It is the policy of the Pohnpei State Government that employment consideration shall be based on qualifications, regardless of sex, age, religion, political affiliation, ancestry and family. Preference shall be first given to a qualified legal resident of Pohnpei and second preference to other citizens of the FSM of for other countries for which no qualified legal residents of Pohnpei are available.

This is the minimum salary rate at a step one of the grade. Higher steps not to exceed steps four
(4) may be authorized in cases of hard to fill positions, where it is appropriate to the qualification of the appointee.

Examples of duties (Illustrative Only)
Records important local events such as public hearings and sessions of the state legislature and municipal council by using proper equipment such as tape recorder; announces programs, spots or public service announcements and maintains constant flow of scheduled programs; writes and edits news copy for broadcasts; audits records and tape recording and select appropriate music for certain musical shows, gathers local news materials from the communities , villages, government agencies and other sources when assigned; arranges and file radio programs properly in the situation library; translates news summaries and scripts into the local language; interviews important persons on issues of interest in the community; reads public service and promotional announcements and weather reports; checks transmitter and posts readings in Engineering Log; keeps equipment in good working condition; files tapes and records according to filing procedures; performs other related duties as may be assigned.
Requirement of Work:
Good knowledge of the English Language; good knowledge of equipment used in radio broadcasting such as turntables, tape recorders, consoles; ability to operate equipment used in radio station; ability to speak and write clearly in English and in the local language; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to use typewriter and etc.
Minimum Education and Work Experience:
Graduation from High School or GED plus two (2) years of work experience as Radio Announcer I.
